As more COVID-19 recoveries are reported in many countries, the more the Church of Jesus of the Latter-day Saints is re-opening its temples around the world. In a letter to all Church members, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expressed their gratitude for the efforts of all those who have worked to address the global COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been 70 days since the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints started its phase 1 re-opening of the Temples for the sealing of the Ordinances. So far, the church has re-opened 122 temples worldwide. With this extension, the number of temples will be raised to 125 for phase 1 and 12 for phase 2 re-opening.
The First Presidency concluded their letter with an expression of hope and a request: “We ask for your continued faith and prayers that this pandemic and its lingering effects may pass. We look forward to the day that we can resume full operation of our temples, congregations and missionary service.”
Temples in Phase 2: Open for all living ordinances only
- Perform all temple ordinances for living individuals
- Maintain closure of patron housing, clothing, and cafeteria operations
The following 12 temples will begin Phase 2 of reopening on July 27, 2020.

- Bismarck North Dakota Temple
- Columbus Ohio Temple
- Copenhagen Denmark Temple
- Frankfurt Germany Temple
- Freiburg Germany Temple
- Nauvoo Illinois Temple
- Seoul Korea Temple
- Star Valley Wyoming Temple
- Stockholm Sweden Temple
- Taipei Taiwan Temple
- Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple
