Twelve weeks after beginning to reopen its closed-for-COVID-19 temples, three-fourths of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ 168 operating temples have been reopened, including two more announced for next week.
Beside identifying the Córdoba Argentina and Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo temples as the next to reopen into Phase 1, the July 27 announcement did not include any temple moving into Phase 2, as did a similar reopening announcement last week.
On Monday, Aug. 3, the two will be the first temples in Argentina and in Central Africa to reopen to Phase 1 status, which allows for limited living husband-and-wife sealings. The sealings are the only by-appointment ordinances being performed in the first phase.
